We have shelved some periodicals on the 3rd floor in our compact shelving area. In this area, the shelves are on a track system designed to open and close each shelf only when needed. This allows us to store a greater number of print materials than a typical open shelving system.

To access a book on a closed compact shelf, turn the crank on the side of the shelf to create an open aisle. The system is designed so you may turn one crank and move several shelves at once.

If you need assistance getting your materials out of compact shelving, please see a librarian at the Reference Desk or ask for help at the Front Desk.
